What are you thankful for?

·

It’s Thanksgiving time in America. The time of the year where Americans of all types engage in the most American tradition of gathering together to eat, drink and argue if it really is the Dallas Cowboy’s year*.

But the main reason for Thanksgiving is in the name: expressing thanks for the people and things in our lives. So with that, I wanted to take a moment to express what I’m thankful for in this fun hobby of ours.

First off, it’s the cars. I love being able to see the amazing machines that pop up. Just when I think I have seen the coolest of the cool, the most expensive, or the wildest configuration there is, something new pops up.

It’s also the ability to see some of my personal favorites, like this manual transmission (!) 2005 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti on BringATrailer. This is about peak Ferrari for me personally, and an exact vehicle I aspire to own. I’ll be tracking this particular example for sure!

Second, it’s the wide variety of sites. Everything from the popular online ones like BringATrailer, Cars&Bids, and Collecting Cars, to the established houses of RM Sotheby’s, Bonhams, Iconic Auctioneers, and Mecum. The beautiful thing about cars in general is there is something for everybody, and that reflects with the sites available. Whether you’re buying, selling, or just dreaming, there’s an almost endless variety of places to do it.

Third, and related to the above, it’s the people. Celebs in the industry like Doug DeMuro, David Gooding, Harry Metcalfe, and Jonny Smith, are a given, but then there are sellers like 911R, 1600Veloce, and Wob always bringing the good stuff.

But most of all, I am thankful for YOU, dear reader. I don’t do this for just for my own satisfaction, but to engage with others who enjoy the passion of cars and car auctions. It’s an absolute blast, and I am thankful it exists and to be a part of it with my fellow enthusiasts. Without you, there is no VelocityStack!

So with that, it’s time to wrap things up and do some more browsing. Hmmm……V12 Ferrari Grand Tourers sound like just the thing this evening. Or maybe OBS Ford Trucks. Or JDM kei vans. Argh, It never ends!

*It’s not. It never will be. But by golly, you just keep on believing!
